About the Collection Vibia Wind
The LED lights Wind by Vibia have airy shades of fibreglass. The collection comprises above all floor lamps and suspensions for outdoors, available in several sizes and an especially large suspension only for the interior area. The design is signed by Jordi Vilardell.
The shades have a classical drum shape, however consist of an unusual and effective material. The irregular net of glassfibre threads achieves a strong presence, yet blocks the view and the light. Even the larger versions with a diameter of 120 cm seem airy and light. The upper side is filled with a synthetic diffuser that softly bulges downwards in the shade's inner side and distributes the light emitted by the integrated LED evenly and glare-free. The floor lamps complement the shade with a straight structure with concrete base or with a conical base made of the same airy glassfibre weaving. A second light source also atmospherically illuminates the glassfibre base.
The shades are made with the modern manufacturing technique of the filament windings. Here the threads are wound around a rotating shape until a mostly cylindrical shape with the desired thickness and density has been achieved. For Wind, a very delicate shape is created that features visible voids between the threads. The pattern of the wrapping is visible and impacts on the light's character.
The Wind LED lights have all the qualities of high-quality interior illumination: a delicate material with a textile character, warm light, well-balanced proportions and appealing colours. A high-protection against wetness, dirt and dust enables to use the light fixture outside and transforms the outdoor area into a welcoming living area. The properties of the integrated LEDs also play a role. They have a particularly warm white colour temperature and a high colour rendering, leading to a relaxing illumination.
