The glass ball light by Mawa Design is a suspension, featuring a glass diffuser and a metallic cap that form a perfect ball. The collection comprises three pendant lights of different sizes for E27 lamp and a LED version. The latter is also available with a transparent glass, while the other models are made of matt opaline glass. The design is signed by Daniel Frey and Martin Wallroth.
The glass diffuser is made of blown clear glass or opaline white matt flashed glass. The cap, suspension details and ceiling rose are made of chromed or powder-coated aluminium. The transparent electrical cable is reinforced with a steel cable for an improved bearing capacity.
The glass diffusers are manufactured with an elaborated process by hand. It is a three-layers triplex glass and for this reason, small discrepancies in dimensions and glass thickness are possible. Besides, air inclusions and other irregularities are not flaws, but quality features. They testify of individual handmade manufacturing and turn every light exemplar into a unique piece.
Its absolute clearness makes possible to integrate the glass ball suspensions in every surroundings and each living style. They can serve stylishly as single piece, but also in rows and clusters. The white satined glass ensures an even, diffuse light, while the transparent LED version has a completely different appeal of its own. Light reflections on its whole surface and the seemingly lacking lamp inside the ball lend it a almost magical aura.
