About the Collection Fritz Hansen Kaiser Idell

The Kaiser Idell light collection best illustrates the functional and aesthetic Bauhaus design. The designer classic of the 1930s was designed by Christian Dell and is now produced by Fritz Hansen.

The collection comprises table lamps, wall lamps, floor lamps and suspensions, all available in diverse, refined colours.

Its design was internationally patented because of the turning joint. The light fixture is unique because of its typical bulge bearing the Kaiser Idell trademark on each light fixture.

The shades are made of lacquered steel plate. The chrome-plated elements are made of hand-polished brass soldered with silver. Depending on model and version, some Kaiser Idell lights are available in a matt black version, although they usually come with a shiny surface which accentuates the classic design.

Christian Dell, designer of the light series, worked from 1922 to 1925 as a master craftsman in the Bauhaus metal workshop in Weimar, Germany. Dell's style already had the reputation of being innovative and future oriented. From 1926 he designed lights for the Gebr. Kaiser & Co. light manufacture. The table lamp 6631 Luxus was presented for the first time in 1936 in the idell catalogue. This task-light soon became the collection's best-selling model. Today it still testifies to high-quality and timeless design thanks to precise craftsmanship and machine processing.

The Kaiser Idell lights are expressive designer classics with a charming retro touch and are easy to operate. The functional task and reading light are also decorative in living rooms and offices, bedrooms and other spaces.

Cleaning instructions by the manufacturer: Wipe off the dust with a dry soft cloth. Remove the stains with a soft cloth dampened in lukewarm water and a mild detergent. The cloth must be wrung out. Do not use detergents containing abrasives or solvents.
