About the Collection Flos Emi
Emi is a Flos light collection by the designer Erwan Bouroullec and combines various light sources with high visual comfort into a unique interplay of light and shadows. The Emi LED lights are the result of Bouroullec's mission to integrate professional light quality in private rooms and gastronomic surroundings.
A matt monolithic light body with triangular shape, slender light stem and triangular base is the Emi lights' central element. The base is made of pressed steel, while the stem and body are of aluminium and PMMA. On the body's upper and lower sides, there are three lighting modules equipped with double focus lenses featuring patented optics with glare protection especially developed by Flos for this product. They ensure heat resistance, an extraordinary homogenity of the light beam and thus a maximum light distribution quality.
Even when the light is switched off, Emi's light source is concealed and generates a remarkable visual effect. The room is illuminated, yet the source of the light cannot be identified.
The Flos Emi Floor produces the impression of a floating light body. The two ways illumination offered by the LED floor lamp Emi is especially well adapted for the modern life conditions. The illumination intensity of the upper light is high enough to brighten the whole room whitout glaring. The lower light, on the contrary, is soft and muted, and can therefore be associated with, for example, a television set or other devices. The Emi Table LED table lamp is smaller and works according to the same principle, so that it is perfectly suitable for illuminating even surfaces.
Emi Floor and Emi Table are equipped with capacitive touch dimming detectors on the stem's upper end to dim the uplight and downlight separately and continuously. The uplight is dimmed by touching the stem's upper area and the downlight by touching the lower area.
The array of available colours was especially commissioned by Erwan Bouroullec. The stylish colour hues lend Emi an architectural touch with a magical note.
The advanced lighting technology of Flos Emi perfectly adapts to its sustainable design concept. To reduce the environmental impact, the body principally consists of partly recycled aluminium (completely recyclable). Further, Flos Emi is conceived for a long functional life to avoid a quick wear and tear.
Flos Emi has spare parts for maintenance or exchange of light components. Each light component can be singly exchanged for a simple maintenance, while the lack of glue and soldering joints makes dismantling and proper disposal of the single parts at the end of the functional life easier.
Cleaning instructions by the manufacturer: The light fixture must be cleaned with a soft cloth only. If there is heavy soiling, please moist the cloth and clean only the spot light and the light's external side. The LED or light source should under no circumstances be cleaned or touched.
