About the Collection DCW Aaro

The Aaro light collection was designed by the German designer Simon Schmitz for the French brand DCWéditions and convinces with its fluid mobility enabling to flexibly direct the light. Aaro is available as a wall lamp, a ceiling lamp and a table lamp.

What triggered the design for DCWéditions Aaro was a gesture. Simon Schmitz wanted to create a movement as fluid as possible with the aid of ball-joints. Ball-joints have fantastic properties: There is no limited direction, no right or left, no up or down. With a ball-joint as decisive element, everything "revolves" around the ball-joint. The result is an object that seems to move in the wind. Everything revolves effortlessly around the centrepiece, like planets circling around. With Aaro, Schmitz creates a floating light that distributes direct light where it is needed. The name Aaro comes from "Aaron's Rod", a biblical notion that symbolizes an almond tree's blooming twigs.

The Aaro lights' metallic body consists of two filigreed, movable light arms. The longer light arm has a circular counterweight, allowing for an horizontal and a vertical arm movement and ensuring the light fixture's stability in every position. The round reflector is rotatable and tiltable and thus maximizes the flexibility of the light direction.
