The lamps Stchu-Moon by Catellani & Smith achieve a lively and complex light refraction thanks to their intentionally uneven surfaces. The collection comprises several pendant lamps, wall lamps and floor lamps and a recessed ceiling lamp. Each model interprets the typical Stchu-Moon design in its own way, for example changing the shape of the shade or the attachment of the light sources.
The shades of the Stchu-Moon lamps are usually made of aluminium, and in some cases of fiberglass. While the exterior face has a simple appearance, the inner side is adorned by an irregular relief structure, covered with metal leaf. The interior side is made by hand, so that it looks different for every individual lamp. The light sources are usually located behind steel spoons that are attached to the edge of the shade. They guide the light into the shade so that a magical, indirect illumination is created, which is reminiscent of the light of the moon.
The Stchu-Moon lights set precious, atmospheric accents in private living spaces, restaurants and other public environments. The variety within the collection and the unique details of each single luminaire turn them into artful lighting objects for high-class interiors. Depending on the version, they give off a cool-toned or a warm illumination and are suitable for different furnishing styles and interior designs.
