The Montjuic floor lamp by Artemide was designed by the architect and artist Santiago Calatrava and appeals with a unique shape. The uplighter spreads a diffuse and indirect light. The brightness can be adjusted at will with a dimmer on the electrical cable.
The dynamic, slightly slanted light stem of black lacquered polyurethan resin holds a curved diffuser of opaline white methacrylate. There is a decorative, transparent, red ball located between the stem and the diffuser. Montjuic is a work-of-art with an expressive, abstract shape which resembles a human silhouette. Name and design cite the architecture of the Montjuïc communication tower located near Barcelona, designed by the architect Calatrava. This 136 m high television tower was built in Barcelona for broadcasting the 1992 Olympic games of Barcelona, and pictures an athlete carrying the Olympic flame.
